The Marketing overview in the Mailyte dashboard

Kept apart

Campaigns on one path, receipts on another

Marketing campaigns leave Mailyte on a different path from transactional mail, so a newsletter is kept off the path that carries your password resets. Campaigns also bring unsubscribe handling, a review step and reporting, which the batch endpoint deliberately leaves out.

  • Campaigns will not schedule without an unsubscribe link
  • Batch sending is for transactional mail that goes to many people at once
  • Every new marketing sender is checked by a person

Choose SendGrid if

  • You want a visual, drag-and-drop email designer. SendGrid has a Design Editor with drag-and-drop modules; Mailyte’s templates are code with editable regions.
  • You want an official SDK in your language. SendGrid lists official libraries for C#, Go, Java, Node.js, PHP, Python and Ruby.
  • You need your data held in the EU. SendGrid lists EU data residency; Mailyte has no region choice.

Choose Mailyte if

  • You want your team’s mailboxes in the same place as your campaigns and app email.
  • You want to pay in naira, by card or bank transfer.
  • You want marketing and transactional mail kept on different sending paths.
  • You want the option to run the mail server yourself: its core is open source under the AGPL-3.0.

Frequently asked

Can I switch from SendGrid to Mailyte without changing my code?

Over SMTP, mostly: point your SMTP client at Mailyte’s relay with new credentials. Over the API, the endpoints and payloads differ, so that path is a mapping exercise rather than a one-line change. Mailyte publishes an endpoint-by-endpoint map from SendGrid, and recommends importing your suppression list before your first send.

Can Mailyte host my team’s business email as well?

Yes. Mailyte hosts mailboxes on your own domain, with IMAP, SMTP and webmail, in the same account as your app email and campaigns, so your team’s email, your receipts and your newsletters sit on one invoice.

Does Mailyte have a drag-and-drop email designer like SendGrid’s?

No. Mailyte’s templates are code with editable regions: a developer or designer sets a template up once, and your team edits the text, image, button and colour regions in place. Variables are written {{ name }}, with one filter, default.

Can I keep marketing email off my transactional sending path?

Yes. Campaigns leave Mailyte on a different path from transactional mail, so a newsletter is kept off the path that carries your password resets. Campaigns also bring unsubscribe handling, a review step and reporting, which the batch endpoint deliberately leaves out.

Does Mailyte offer an SLA?

Not below Enterprise. Mailyte has a public status page that probes each listed service live, but it publishes no uptime history, and the terms contain no service level agreement. An uptime commitment in writing is part of the Enterprise plan.

Does Mailyte bill in naira?

Yes. Mailyte is priced in naira, by card or bank transfer, and in dollars if you prefer. SendGrid’s pricing page shows dollar amounts.
