Billing
Billing and plans
How seats work, what you pay for, and the two ways to pay.
What this is
Billing is where you see what you are paying for, buy seats for your mailboxes, and settle up.
The page answers two questions directly: what you pay, and your seats.
How it works
Mailyte is priced per mailbox, as seats.
- A seat upgrades one mailbox from free to paid. Paid mailboxes get more storage, webmail on your own domain, sending, and priority support.
- Free mailboxes keep working. You are not forced to buy a seat for every address — a system address that only receives can stay free.
- Seats are owned, in use and spare. You buy a number of seats and assign them to mailboxes; a spare seat is one you have paid for and not yet used, which is what you want before hiring rather than after.
Billing runs monthly or annually, and annual saves twenty percent.
There are two ways to pay.
By card, which activates immediately once the payment goes through.
By bank transfer, which is a two-part flow: your order is saved and nothing is charged, then you send the transfer using the reference shown on that screen. That reference is the only thing tying your money to your order, so keep it. Seats activate once the transfer arrives.
Set it up
- Go to Billing and look at Your seats — owned, in use, spare.
- Choose how many seats you need. Count the mailboxes that need sending, larger storage or webmail; leave the rest free.
- Pick monthly or annual. Annual is twenty percent cheaper and is the right default if you are staying.
- Choose card or bank transfer.
- For a card, complete the payment and the seats are live straight away.
- For a bank transfer, copy the reference exactly and use it as the narration on the transfer. Without it, nobody can match your payment to your order.
- Assign seats to mailboxes. A seat sitting spare does nothing for anyone.
When something is wrong
You paid by transfer and nothing has activated. Check the transfer carried the reference. If it did, allow for bank clearing time, then open a ticket quoting the reference.
The seat count looks wrong. Compare owned against in use on Usage. Spare seats are paid for but unassigned — that is the usual explanation.
A mailbox cannot send. It may be on a free tier without a seat. Assign one and try again.
The plan shown is not what you agreed. Open a ticket with what you expected. Do not buy again to fix it.
You need an invoice for accounts. They are all under Invoices.
